Major telco player DITO Telecommunity has built deeper partnerships with key players in the technology space at the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT) 2023 as it shared how the company advances the Philippines’ internet state. 

Committed to nation-building and bringing Filipinos ahead, DITO Telecommunity stepped into the international scene as its officials participated in  APRICOT 2023—a summit that brings the top technology leaders, including operators, researchers, and service providers from more than 50 countries. 

Held at the Sofitel Philippines Plaza Manila last February 20 to March 2, participants shared knowledge and best practices needed to fire up internet access in the Asia Pacific region through a series of seminars, technical workshops, peering forums, and tutorials. 

“As we promise to provide reliable and high-speed internet connectivity to every Filipino consumer and enterprise amid the need to keep pace with the growing digital world, establishing partnerships and learning from the industry’s top players are crucial to achieving our goal,” said Atty. Adel Tamano, DITO Chief Administrative Officer. 

“Our participation at APRICOT 2023 reflects DITO Telecommunity’s aggressive strategy to always be on the lookout for more ways to better serve the Filipino people,” Tamano added. 

With tighter competition following its entry into the local telco market in 2021, Filipinos are experiencing faster internet speeds and wider network coverage. 

In a short span of time, DITO Telecommunity’s massive investments in infrastructure allowed it to deploy more than 6,000 towers across the country, complementing its 28,000 kilometers of self-built and purchased fiber backbone network. 

Just late last year, DITO Telecommunity also joined a consortium of telco carriers in China, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam to build a $300-million subsea cable in Southeast Asia. 

DITO Telecommunity continues to beef up its infrastructure with next-gen 5G technology, with the end-goal of empowering Filipinos with fast and reliable mobile and broadband connectivity to support their personal and business needs.
