DITO bags 5 major awards at prestigious MEA 2022

Youngest telco player DITO Telecommunity bagged a total of five awards during the recently concluded Marketing Excellence Awards 2022.

Marketing Excellence Awards (MEA), a Singapore-based marketing communication awards platform in Asia, recognized DITO’s creative execution of its Galing DITO campaign with three gold awards: Excellence in Brand Strategy, Excellence in Digital Marketing, and Excellence in Social Media Marketing; as well as two silver awards: Excellence in Media Strategy and Excellence in Influencer / KOLs Marketing. Among the hundreds of finalists and prominent brands across industries this year, DITO also landed 2nd place Marketer of the Year.

These recognitions were considered a big win for DITO as the company is still a rookie player in the telco industry and a first-time participant in MEA since its commercial operations in March 2021.
“We have a lot to celebrate and be grateful for. It’s only been more than a year since we started our commercial operations but we’re so happy to celebrate and share these awards with our nearly 15 million subscribers,” added Jasper Evangelista, DITO’s Brand & Marketing Director.

Launched on the Philippines' 124th Independence Day, the Galing DITO movement with the tagline “Ipakita ang GALING, saan man GALING!” celebrated homegrown, up-and-coming Filipino talents all over the nation. The campaign started as a music video featuring 13 local artists from various locations in the country, like singer Marga Jayy, rapper February Bank, dance group Femme Manila, the Buganda Drum Beaters, Ilocos-based rapper Fairy Flojo, Cebu-based rapper Cookie$ and P-Pop boy group 13C and many more. The music video earned a total of 57.6 million views on Facebook and 24 million views on Youtube to date while the song Galing DITO was also released on Spotify.

From there, the campaign celebrated more galing with the #GalingDITO TikTok Challenge which garnered over 2K entries nationwide! The #GalingDITO hashtag on TikTok now has over 600 million views and features DITOzens from all over the country showcasing their talents in dancing, singing and rapping.
The Galing DITO campaign was further amplified online and on-ground with livestreams, collaboration with KOLs from all over the country and activations in different provinces to give an avenue for Pinoys to showcase their galing, saan man galing.

“We are very proud to have launched the Galing DITO movement. As a telecommunity that takes pride in celebrating Filipino skills and talents, we aim to encourage more Filipinos to unleash their passions and be part of a movement that truly empowers Pinoy talent and brings together artists and creators from all over the country.” Jimenez said.


The Marketing Excellence Awards recognizes Philippines’ outstanding marketing campaigns. Winners were chosen and judged by an independent panel of high-caliber and senior industry experts from reputable brands. It is also the premier platform for marketers to showcase their creative excellence, successful strategies and effective delivery.
